Baunsarani, which literally means ‘the bamboo queen’, is one of the lesser known dance forms prevalent in
Orissa.
It is mainly performed by little girls who exhibit various acrobatic postures on the crossed bamboo bar as well as on the floor with exquisite scintillating movement synchronized with the beat of dhols, drums and songs.
