Battalar Ghat, also known as Chatterjee ghat, is situated at
Chinsurah in
Hooghly District. The ghat got its name from the word 'Bat' which means 'banyan tree'. The specialty here is that a lady from the famous Sarkar family became a Sati at this ghat. Thus the ghat is also known as Sati’s Ghat.
This place can be reached from Chinsurah town, which is 50 km away from Kolkata. The nearest railway stations are Chinsurah and Hooghly. Ferry services are also available across the Ganges river to reach this destination.
