Batsavitri, an important festival of Bihar, is celebrated in the month of May / June. The festival commemorates the legend of Savitri who had brought her husband Sathyavan to life by determinedly pleading with the God of death, Yama. Batsavitri is mainly celebrated by married women who fast during the festival and offer sweets and fruits to the images of Savitri.
