Bateshwar Fair

Bateshwar Fair is a large fair held at Bateshwar, an important spiritual and cultural center situated 70 km from Agra, on the banks of the river Yamuna, in Uttar Pradesh. The festivity begins from Shashthi of the month Kartik to Panchami of the month Agrahayan (October-November).

A large number of devotees from far and near come to Bateshwar to worship Bateshwar Mahadev (Lord Shiva). The people take a holy dip in the river Yamuna. A livestock fair is also organized along with this fair.

The presiding deity of Bateshwar is Bateshwar Mahadev, thus the place got the name. There are 108 temples dedicated to the gods and goddesses of the Hindu pantheon. Hence, it is a place of great religious importance to the Hindus.
