Bassein Beach, also known as Vasai Beach, is one of the most renowned beaches in Maharashtra. In the beginning of the 17th Century, the wide beaches of the Bassein used to be a place for shipbuilding. The ruins of a Portuguese Fort can be seen at the beach.

Bassein Beach houses some magnificent churches. A number of temples including the Sadguru Nityanand Maharaj Samadhi Mandir, the Vajreshwari temple and the Bhimeshwar temple are located near the beach. The place also holds many Buddhist relics.

Bassein Road, on Western Railway, is the nearest railhead. Bassein is 77 km along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway.
