Basirhat is a town in North 24 Parganas District of West Bengal. It is located 43 km east of Kolkata and 57 km from Kamarhati.

Bee-keeping and fishing-net manufacturing are predominant occupations in the area.

Chaura and Gacha (towards the north), Itinda (5 km east) and Bagunta are among the surrounding places. The major point of attraction here is the Chandraketugarh. Barasat Railway Station and Basirhat Railway Station are the closest railheads.
