Basarke Gillan

Located about 12 km south-west of Amritsar, Basarke Gillan is a beautiful village associated with Guru Amar Das, the third Sikh Guru, who was born here in 1479. The village is noted for three Sikh gurdwaras. Gurdwara Janam Asthan, located on the north of Basarke Gillan, marks the birth place of Guru Amar Das. The other Gurdwara named Gurdwara San Sahib, lying about 200 m north-east of the village, is also worth visiting. The annual fair, held here on the full moon day of Bhadon (September), is attended by a large number of devotees. The memorial called Samadh Bibi Amaro Di, situated on the north of the village, is dedicated to Bibi Amaro, the daughter of Guru Angad. The famous attractions like the Golden Temple, and the Durgiana Temple, are easily accessible from here. Amritsar International Airport is the nearest airport and Amritsar Junction Railway Station is the major railhead nearby.
