Barkhera is a place of archeological importance located about 7 km from Bhimbetka. Historians say that this region was a large camp site used by the Acheulian hunter-gatherers. There are many fields and thick teak forests holding thousands of Acheulian tools. This tiny market town is considered as one of the important Stone Age points in entire South Asia. Jabalpur airport is located about 30 km from here.
