Barabhum

Barabhum is a town in Purulia District of West Bengal. It borders with Jharkhand State. Jamshedpur, the major city of Jharkhand, is around 32 km south of Barabhum. Bamundiha lies 9 km to the north. Salbani in the west, Sindri in the east and Baram in the south are among other places in the neighborhood.

The major point of tourist attraction in this region is the sprawling Ajodhya Hills. Pabanpur, a little known village near Barabhum, treasures a number of ruined temples and broken antiquities. Damaged images of Tirthankars found on all sides of the temples are of great religious significance. Delicate carvings superbly executed on some of the temples show influence of Pala culture.
