Baoli at Fatehpur Sikri

Baoli is a deep step well. The step wells in olden times were used along with water wheels to supply water to gardens and palaces. The Baoli at Fatehpur Sikri is octagonal shaped and has thirteen steep steps. It was built with the intention to supply water to Haram Sara and some other parts of the palace. Constructed with red sand stone, the walls of the step well are decorated with ornamental rose figures and simple carvings.
