Banyan Tree

One of the most noteworthy features of the historic town of Kurukshetra is a 5000-year-old Banyan Tree, under whose gnarled and twisted branches is a marble chariot – believed to be used by Lord Krishna and Arjuna in the great epic Mahabharata .

Legend says that, this was the spot where Lord Krishna stopped the chariot between the two warring armies to discourse the teachings of Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. The footprints of Lord Krishna can be seen in the chariot.

The place can be reached by bus from Kurukshetra Bus Station.
