Bansi Gopal Temple




Bansi Gopal Temple is a beautiful shrine dedicated to Lord Krishna, situated in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. Built in Shikhara style, the temple enshrines the idol of Lord Krishna holding a flute with Radha beside him.

The noteworthy feature of the temple is the amorous sculptures of Khajuraho style on the exterior of the temple. The images of various deities, including Surya, Krishna with flute, Goddess Mahishasuramardini, Lord Vishnu (with three faces - human, lion and boar), Uma Maheshwara, Narasimha and Varaha adorns the niches outside the temple.

The temple can be easily reached by bus from Chamba.
