Bans

Bans is an indigenous wind instrument of the tribal people belonging to Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It is mostly used by the cowherd community of these regions.

Bans is constructed from a 4 ft long bamboo stick. It is similar to the flute in structure and playing method. The similarities end over there. The sound produced by this instrument is rough, resembling the thundering of clouds or hoofs of wild animals.
