Banganga is a sacred tank situated in Mumbai
. It is considered as the probably oldest heritage site in Mumbai. This beautiful stepped tank is surrounded by 30 temples and 2 hermitages. The steps were constructed during the Silhara Dynasty. The water rises from an underground stream to fill the tanks. It is said that the water in this tank is come from the Ganges River
Legend is that Lord Ram stayed here on his en-route to Sri Lanka.
The annual Banganga Festival, held in the month of January, draws thousands of people from far and near.
Grant Road Railway Station is the nearest local railhead. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus is around 8 km south-east.
