Balukhand Sanctuary

Balukhand-Konark Wildlife Sanctuary



Located in Puri District of Orissa, Balukhand Sanctuary lies along the sea coast between Puri and Konark. Covering an area of 72 sq km, the sanctuary is a habitat for black buck, spotted deer, monkey, squirrel, jungle cat, hyena, jackal, mongoose and a variety of birds and reptiles. Nunani estuary lies on the northern side of the Balukhand forest.

The best time to visit is October to May.

Biju Patnaik Airport and Puri Railway Station serve as the nearest accessible points. The Puri-Konark marine drive road passes through this sanctuary.
