Balamau




Balamau is an ancient town in Sandila taluk, Hardoi District. According to traditions, this town was founded towards the end of Akbar’s reign by one Bami Mirmi. Bami Khera was the earlier name of the town. It is to the south of Hardoi, the district headquarters and 20 km north-west of Sandila. Shamspur, Ghausganj and Beniganj are the other nearby towns.

Naimisaranya, a sacred place located in Sitapur District, is the nearest major tourist attraction.

Balamau Junction Railway Station serves the town. Nearest airport is Amausi Airport.
