Bala Gurukulam Orphanage is on the banks of Red Hills Lake at Murugambedu village in Ambattur, Chennai. It offers residential, medical and educational services to the abandoned and deprived children in the community.
Yoga and meditation classes are conducted. The orphanage conducts economic development programs, meetings, seminars and awareness camps. Also, village women are trained in making handmade paper bags, screen printing and cattle rearing. Contributions in the form of donations, food, clothes and books are accepted.
The orphanage is 25 km from Chennai International Airport. Chennai Central Railway Station and Chennai Bus Station are 20 km away. There are regular bus services to Ambattur. The closest railway station is at Ambattur.
