Baishagu

Baishagu is a famous festival celebrated by the tribal community in Assam during baishak or mid April. The festival begins with the cow-worship. The celebration starts with the young people reverentially bowing down to their parents and elders. After that Bathou or Lord Shiva is worshipped by offering him chicken and rice beer. On the same day a dance accompanied by traditional musical instruments such as kham, jotha, khawbang, gogona and siphung, is performed. The festival ends with a community prayer at Garjasali.
