Baisakh




Baisakh is the first month of the Bengali calendar. The first day of this month is celebrated as Poila Baisakh. The month is considered auspicious for marriages and setting up of new business ventures. New account books, called ‘halkhata’, are worshipped and then opened by traders. Baisakh falls in between mid-April and mid-May.
