Bail Pola is a one day festival celebrated by the people of
Madhya Pradesh. It is celebrated on the first day of
Shravan. It is the festival of thanking and worshipping the cattle folk. On the day of Pola, bullocks are lovingly adorned. New, polished bells are put around their necks and embroidered Jhoomars are hung on their backs. In the morning, the farmers and their families perform a special
puja of the bullocks and ask for their forgiveness for all the wrongs done to them unknowingly. They also thank the animals for bringing them wealth and prosperity. The main events of this festival are bullock cart races and processions of decorated bullocks conducted in the evening .
