Bageshwar District




Bageshwar District is located in the northern part of Uttaranchal. It is surrounded by the districts of Almora, Pithoragarh, and Chamoli. Hindi, English and Kumaoni are the widely spoken languages. The important functions and festivals are Vishuvati, Vat Savitri Amavasya, Harela, Harishayani Ekadashi, Ghri Sankranti, Sankasht Chaturthi, and Doorvashtami. The major temples are Bagnath temple, Chandika temple, and Gauri Udiyar temple. The tourist destinations are Baijnath, Kanda, Pandusthal, and Vijaypur. The nearest airport is at Pant Nagar which is 178 km from the district headquarters, Bageshwar and the nearest railway station is situated at Kathgodam.
