A spicy rice and lentil preparation of the Bengalis, this dish is known for its nutritional value. Rice and lentil are cooked after adding sauteed bay leaves, chopped onions, cumin, dry red chilies, ginger, tomato, peppercorn paste, curry powders, sugar and salt. Powdered spices and whipped eggs are added to the Khichuri in the last stages of preparation. Badshahi Khichuri is best served hot.
