Badshah Mausoleum

Set on the banks of Jhelum River in Srinagar District is the famous Badshah mausoleum. This large burial chamber has five domes and it is 4 km away from the town. These domes are constructed in the Persian style of architecture. It is believed that this site originally belonged to a Hindu shrine constructed by king Pravarasena.

The place derived its name from the Kashmiri ruler of the 15th century, Zain-ul-Abidin who was popularly known as Badshah. This great patron of Sanskrit was buried at this place.

Regular transport by bus and taxi are available from various points in Srinagar. The nearest airport is Srinagar Airport. The nearest railhead is Jammu Tawi Railway Station, which is 300 km away.
