Badshah Mausoleum

Set on the banks of Jhelum River in Srinagar District is the famous Badshah mausoleum. This large burial chamber has five domes and it is 4 km away from the town. These domes are constructed in the Persian style of architecture. It is believed that this site originally belonged to a Hindu shrine constructed by king Pravarasena.

The place derived its name from the Kashmiri ruler of the 15th century, Zain-ul-Abidin who was popularly known as Badshah. This great patron of Sanskrit was buried at this place.
