Badol Devi Temple

Badol Devi Temple is located on a hill at village Badol in Bilaspur District of Himachal Pradesh, at a distance of 3 km from Gehrwin on the Gehrwin – Dhanathar road. The temple is devoted to Goddess Durga, widely known here as Badol Devi, the symbol of Mother Shakti.

Various legends are associated with this temple. The most accepted is in connection with an old man, Bhura. He is said to have had a childless cow that used to let her milk fall on a particular place. On seeing this, he was surprised and assumed that some one had enthralled his cow. He prevented the cow from going to that place. One day he got angry and he axed the cow. But he was astonished for a while because he could see the blooded milk flowing from the wounds of cow. At last he understood everything. The people who learned about this incident dug the place where the cow used to drop her milk and found a pindi of goddess Durga which was later installed in the bushes near that place.

Nearest airport is at Shimla. Kiratpur Sahib Railway Station is the nearest railway station.
