Badnore, earlier known as Vardhanpur, is a beautiful village located in Bhilwara district. Believed to be founded by the Parmar king Badna in 845 BC, this place is associated with many historical incidents and legends. Until captured by the
Mughals, Badnore remained in the hands of the victor. Important persons in the history of this region include the great poetess Mirabai and Rao Jaimal, the grandson of Rao Dudaji. A 2000 year old inscription found here in a recent excavation proves that the place had an ancient trade route. Important tourist destinations in the area include Jalkahal Lake, Grishma Niwas and Bada Darwaza.
Badnore lies between 25°N latitude and 74°E longitude, off the National Highway, between
Jaipur and
Udaipur. Buses are available for this place from
Ajmer, Jaipur, and Udaipur. Taxis are also available on hire. Badnore is at a distance of 90 km from the town of Ajmer. There are airports at Jaipur and Udaipur.
