Bababudangiri Cave Shrine

Bababudangiri Cave Shrine is a Sufi shrine situated at Bababudangiri Hill in Chikmagalur District of Karnataka. It houses the chamber of Baba Hayat Mir Qalander, a Sufi saint who came to this place from Arabia and prevented human sacrifice. Later his descendant Baba Budan introduced coffee cultivation in this region. Local people treated him as Lord Dattatreya’s incarnation.

Today this dargah has become a center of attraction for both Hindus and Muslims. Hindus worship the silver footwear here as those belonging to Lord Dattatreya and the Sufi Muslims as those of Dada Hayat.

This cave shrine is about 280 km from Bangalore and 20 km from Chikmagalur.
