Baba Ramdev Fair

Baba Ramdev Fair is held at Ramdevra Temple in Ramdevra, Jaisalmer District. Celebrated annually during the lunar month of Bhadon (August-September), the fair is held in commemoration of a Tanwar Rajput, Baba Ramdev.

A dip in a small lake adjacent to the temple is believed to wash away all sins. The pilgrims take special vows to walk sideways or roll on the ground and some offer toy horses in remembrance of Baba Ramdev's love for horses. Bhajans (devotional songs) and kirtans are sung night-long during this fair.

A large number of devotees, irrespective of caste or creed, attend this fair. The highlight is Teratali, the dance of 13 cymbals, performed by women.
