Located on the banks of the Mahananda, Azamnagar is a small town in the eastern side of Katihar District in Bihar. It is 27 km east of Katihar, the district headquarters, and 34 km south-east of Purnia.
The towns close to Azamnagar are Barsoi (14 km north-east), Pranpur (14 km south-west) and Kadwa (14 km north).
Katihar Junction Railway Station, on the Araria- Kumedpur railway line, serves this town. The nearest airport is Patna Airport.
