Asurchula Temple




Asurchula Temple is situated on the top of Ghunsera Caves. The stone images of gods and goddesses found in this temple belong to the period corresponding to the Gupta Empire. The temple was built by Khol rulers of Kartikeyapura. Kartikeyapura is the original name of Joshimath. Katyuri rulers had named it after their presiding deity, Lord Kartikeya.
