Asthal Bohar is located about seven kilometers east of
Rohtak, on
National Highway 10, in
Haryana. Asthal Bohar is believed to have been founded by Pooran Bhagat of Sialkot and the disciple of Guru Gorkhnath.
The place is famed for its monastery and excavated stone idols. The monks of this monastery are believed to be the descendants of Buddha's earliest disciples. Presently, this monastery runs several educational and charitable institutions.
