Arulmigu Shri Kandaswamy Temple




Arulmigu Shri Kandaswamy Temple, popularly known as Kandha Kottam, is a highly revered shrine located at George Town, the oldest area of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The temple enshrines Lord Muruga as the presiding deity.

Arulmigu Shri Kandaswamy Temple is believed to have been built by a devotee named Mari Chettiar. Devotees believe that Mari Chettiar found the stone idol of this temple under a Neem tree. The temple worships Lord Muruga in the form of Lord Kandhaswamy with his consorts Valli and Deivanai. The Vel and the pennant of Lord Muruga are also worshipped here with religious importance.

Thousands of devotees from far and near reach Kandha Kottam to eradicate their sorrows and fulfill the wishes.
