Arrikuttikal

A custom practiced in Lakshadweep Islands

Arrikuttikal is a custom practiced by the islanders of Lakshadweep during a wedding function. It is performed three days before the wedding. The members of the household are sent out to personally invite the guests. Thereafter, with the consent of the groom’s mother or sister, the friends and relatives gather together to clean the rice and grind the spices.
