Arjunwad

Arjunwad, named after a Maratha officer Arjuna, is a village in Belgaum District of Karnataka. Excavations have revealed inscription slabs dated to 1260 of Yadava Kannara. Scholars give much importance attached to these records because there is a mention of Basava, the protagonist of Veerashaivism.

The famous Arjunwad inscription and other boundary stones with writings such as Basavanakai have been exhibited at Karnataka University Campus, Dharwad. Arjunwad is about 5 km from Hukkeri.
