Ardhasani Temple

Mausi Maa Mandir / Temple of Mother’s Sister



Ardhasani Temple is a small white-washed temple, situated 3 km away from Jagannath Temple. The image of Subhadra is worshipped here. According to Skanda Purana, Subhadra saved the town by drinking half of the flood water. The temple is important in the grand festival of Rath Yatra. Lord Jagannath, on his way from the Gundicha Temple during the Rath Yatra, stops at this temple to receive Poda Pitha.

The temple is 3 km from Jagannath Temple, on the Grand Road. Puri is well connected by air, rail and road. The nearest airport at Bhubaneswar is 65 km away. Regular buses are available from Bhubaneswar to the Puri bus stand on the Grand Road. Puri has a direct rail access to well known destinations, such as Kolkata, Tirupati, and Delhi. Trains run between Puri and Khordha (45 km), the main stop on the Chennai-Kolkata route.
