Arattupuzha




Arattupuzha is a village in Thrissur District of Kerala. The place is known for the colorful festival of Arattupuzha Pooram, which falls in the month of Meenam (March/April). Arattupuzha lies on Poomangalam-Thrissur road, around 12 km south of Thrissur town.

The Pooram festival is celebrated at Shri Sastha Temple, one of the famous temples dedicated to Lord Ayyappa in the district. A ceremonial procession carrying the images of the deities of 41 neighboring temples to this village is the uniqueness of this festival.

Cherpu (in the west), Chevvoor (in the north), Thottippal (in the south-east), Paralam (in the north-west), Vallachira (in north) and Irinjalakuda (in the south) are the nearby villages and towns.

Thrissur Railway Station serves the village. The nearest airport is Cochin International Airport.
