Aralaguppe




Aralaguppe in Tumkur District is well-known for its old temples. It is located 15 km east of Tiptur. Its famous 9th century Kalleshwara temple was built in Ganga-Nalamba style. The carvings of the temple ceiling feature a magnificent dancing Shiva with musical accompanists and eight Dikpalas. Another temple, Chennakeshava temple of the Hoysala style features a wonderful image of Lord Vishnu in its garbhagriha. There are also four temples devoted to goddess Ganga at this place.
