Ammankudi

Rajarajeshwaram



Ammankudi, also known as Rajarajeshwaram, is a village situated about 20 km from Kumbakonam in Thanjavur District. This was the place where Krishnarama Brahmarayan, the chief of army of Rajaraja Cholan I, lived. There is an old temple called Ammankudi Durgaiamman Temple built by him. The temple is devoted to Parvati and Kailasanatha Swamy (Shiva).

The nearest railway station is at Kumbakonam.
