Amethyst is an emporium located in a 100 year old building at Gopalapuram,
Chennai. The building was a shelter for the Jeypore princes. The present shop was started in 2000 by Kiran Rao. The shop sells antiques, curios, sarees, apparel, quilts, bed spreads, carpets, furniture, food items such as honey and ghee, jewellery, diamonds, and semi precious stones.
The shop also has a section for flowers. The main varieties include Australian flowers such as King Proteus, Australian Panksia, orchids, Tiger Lily, Calla Lily and Sunflowers. The shop also has a nursery.
