Ambad




Ambad is a municipal town and tahsil on Jalna- Gevrai Road in Jalna District. It was once a main commercial center in Marathvada region. Decayed stone buildings, ruined walls and gateways are seen there. The place has a temple dedicated to Goddess Matsyodari where an annual fair is held in October. The place also has a temple of Khandoba and a masonry kund (tank), both constructed by a queen named Ahilyabai Holkar at the end of the 18th century. The nearest railway station is at Jalna, about 30 km away.
