Amaravati Museum lies in
Amaravati which is 34 km from
Guntur, in
Guntur District. It exhibits the archaeological findings from other Buddhist sites in Andhra Pradesh which belong to the 3rd century BC to 12th century, a gold necklace from Gummadidurru (a village), relic-caskets with bone-relics and gold flowers. The museum has three galleries. Gallery I displays some models of the art-tradition of Amaravati, an inscribed relief of Buddha from Gummadidurru, image of Buddha, coins, beads, terracotta, pottery, drum slabs, dome-slabs, pillars and rail fragments and miscellaneous sculptures. Gallery II exhibits some early relics of the 2nd century BC, inscribed pillars, drum and dome slabs, two Buddha images from
Alluru and a stone-wheel from Lingarajapalli.
The adjacent airport is at Vijayawada which is 70 km from Amaravati. The nearest railhead is at Guntur.
