Amaravati

A town in Sivagangai District of Tamil Nadu, Amaravati lies about 64 km east of Madurai and around 50 km from Sivagangai. It is on the National Highway 210 between Karaikudi and Devakottai. Kalaiyar Koil Swarna Kaleeswarar Temple is a highly revered shrine at Kanadukathan, 5 km north of Karaikudi . Chettinad Palace is another attraction at Kanadukathan. Nearest airport is Madurai Airport. Karaikudi Junction Railway Station and Devakottai Road Railway Station serve the town.
