Amar Singh Gate

Amar Singh Gate, the entry point of Agra Fort, is located at Agra, about 200 km from Delhi. The gate is towards the south of the fort and is defended by a square bastion flanked by round towers. This gate has historical importance, since it was here that the Maharaja of Jodhpur in an attempt to escape from the fort, ran his horse over the fort wall. A stone statue of the horse has been constructed here in memory of the loyal horse. Thousands of tourists pass through the gate daily to view the famous Jahangir Mahal. Adorned with glazed tiles, Amar Singh Gate is also noted for its architectural excellence. Agra Civil Enclaves is the nearest airport within 10 km range. Agra Fort Railway Station serves this region.
