Alathiyur Sri Rama Temple

Alathiyur Sri Rama temple is located at Alathiyur in Malappuram district, Kerala. The temple is also popularly known as ‘Perumthrikkovil’. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ram.

The idol of Ram is shown standing alone without his wife, Goddess Sita. This is a distinctive feature of this temple, for normally Ram is always shown together with Sita, in temples.

Adjacent to the main shrine, there is a shrine dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Hanuman is shown, with a club in his hand, leaning forward to hear his master’s words. He is shown facing south, which is another distinctive feature of this temple, because Hanuman is never shown facing south in other temples.

There is also a shrine dedicated to Lord Lakshman, Rama’s brother.
