Alamgir




Alamgir is a bewitching village situated about 13 km south-east of Ludhiana. This historically important village is also famous for numerous Sikh festivals.

Tradition has it that Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth and last Sikh Guru, had halted at Alamgir after the historic battle of Chamkaur in 1705. Major point of attraction is a gurdwara, built in honor of the guru. Spread over an area of 3 acres, Gurdwara Alamgir is noted for its architectural excellence and attracts a large number devotees. There is a dining hall which can accommodate about 2000 persons at a time. Every year in December, a three day fair is held at Alamgir, attended by thousands from every nook and corner of the region.

Ludhiana Junction Railway Station is the major railhead nearby and the nearest airport is Ludhiana Airport.
