Alaknanda Valley




Alaknanda Valley is in Chamoli District of Uttaranchal. Bhyundar Pass separates Alaknanda Valley from upper Dhauli. Alaknanda River, a tributary of Ganges River, passes through this valley. The holy town of Rudraprayag lies on a narrow strip of the valley. This portion of the valley - from Chamoli District to Hallang - is called Upper Alaknanda Valley. The remaining portion is known as Lower Alaknanda Valley. Joshimath is the highest bazaar in the valley. The famous pilgrim center of Badrinath is situated in Alaknanda Valley. Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport and Rishikesh Railway Station is the nearest railway station.
