Akshaya Kumar Maitreya Museum, established in 1965, is located inside the North Bengal University, in
Darjeeling District,
West Bengal. The museum exhibits a rich collection of stone, bronze and wooden sculptures, coins, manuscripts, Assamese-Bengali scripts, paintings, miniatures and terracotta plaques of medieval temples of Bengal.
Swords, pottery, ivory work, folk art of North Bengal, wooden masks, North Bengal tribal ornaments and musical instruments of North Bengal are also on display.
