Akalkot




Akalkot, a small town located on the Solapur-Maindargi Road, was once the headquarters of a former state in western India. The place contains a large number of ashrams devoted to Swami Akalkot. Swami Akalkot was a follower of Datta who is considered to be an embodiment of Vishnu. Shree Swami Samarth of Akalkot is also variously known as 'Akalkot Swami,' 'Akalkot Maharaj,' and 'Akalkot Niwasi Maharaj.'

Maindargi is 11 km east of Akalkot. The nearest airport is at Solapur, at a distance of 31 km.
