Ajeet Cour




A prolific Punjabi writer, Ajeet Cour was born in Lahore, on November 16, 1934. She has to her credit a number of significant short stories and novels. Most of her writings depict the oppression and hardships encountered by women. Among her prominent works is Savian Chidian. Her autobiographical work titled Khanabadosh fetched her Sahitya Akademi Award. She has also won the International IATA Award, Punjabi Sahitya Sabha Award, and Shiromani Sahitkar Award. Presently, she is the chairperson of Academy of Fine Arts and Literature, New Delhi.
