Started in 1885, Ahmedabad Gymkhana is the oldest golf club in
Ahmedabad and the first private club in
Ahmedabad. This social club offers sports and recreational facilities. It is a meeting spot for both military and civilian personnels.
The historic charm is seen in its wooden roof shaded corridor, which exists even today. During the British rule in India, the club witnessed regular gala dances on its wooden floorings.
For recreational activities there is the card room, gymnasium, aerobics room and basket ball court. Other facilities include vegetarian and non vegetarian restaurants and library. A play park is specially designed for kids. Regular coaching classes for badminton, swimming, tennis and billiards are offered. Movies are shown on Saturday.
The club is open on all days from 06:00 to 22:00 hrs. It is 4 km from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, 6 km from Ahmedabad Junction Railway Station and 8 km from Ahmedabad bus stand.
