Agnigarh

Agnigarh is one of the most beautiful and attractive tourist spots in Tezpur. According to mythology, Princess Usha, the daughter of the demon king Bana, was imprisoned inside a palace with walls of fire to keep her out of reach from her lover Anirudha. Hence the name 'Agnigarh,' meaning a 'fort of fire.' The present Agnigarh is a small hill facing river Brahmaputra. It provides the tourist an exciting view of the Brahmaputra River and Tezpur town. Recently Agnigarh has been turned into a park by the district administration.
